About Hazel's work

Hazel works with authors who want to see their book reach the screen. The focus is on translating a finished manuscript into the materials the film industry actually reads: a clear cinematic assessment of the story, a logline that sells the concept in a single sentence, a synopsis that shows the film rather than retells the book, and the longer creative documents that position the project as a serious film property.

Every project starts with the book itself. Hazel reads for what makes the story work on screen — the central conflict, the characters an audience follows, the world that can be visualized, and the emotional through-line that carries a viewer from the first scene to the last. From that reading comes a development direction: which version of the story the film should tell, where the structure sits, and how the project should be presented to producers, development executives, or production partners.

The goal is practical: give the author professional, industry-ready materials that stand on their own when they are shared outside this process.

What Hazel can prepare for you

  • Book-to-film adaptation assessment — an honest reading of the story's cinematic potential
  • Logline and synopsis written in film-industry language
  • Film creative documents that analyze story, characters, themes, tone and structure
  • Cinematic blueprints defining how the story should look, feel and move on screen
  • Film pitch decks that present the project's story, identity and audience appeal
  • Full 125-page screenplay documents developed from the original book

How working together goes

You reach out directly by email with a short note about your book — genre, word count or length, and where you are in the process. Hazel responds personally to discuss which materials fit your goals and to agree on scope, timeline and price before any work begins.

Once the project starts, you receive structured drafts at agreed milestones, with room for your feedback at every step. Deliverables and business-day timelines for each package are listed on the Pricing page, so you always know what you are getting and when.

Our work prepares professional materials; representation, acquisition or production decisions are made independently by the professionals who receive them. No outcome is guaranteed.
